💡 When to cross out item 2:
This only matters if the IRS has sent you a notice saying they're requiring extra withholding because you didn't report all your interest or dividends on a past tax return. If that's happened to you, cross out item 2 before signing. If you've never received a notice like this, leave it alone.

→ If you're signing for a business, sign as yourself — you're the authorized person

Usually yes. Most companies are fine with e-signatures through their portals or signing tools. If you're not sure, just ask. Honest mistakes won't get you in trouble — just fix them when you notice. But intentionally lying on the form can lead to a $500 fine or worse. Don't do that.
